Life has a way of taking the reins right out of your hands, bringing things faster than what seems possible to handle. But we always seem to find a way to work through it, right?!? What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.....or so I've been told.
Until, that is, your body sends up the flag and says "HEY! Wait a minute!" Unfortunately that is what has happened to me. A little too much burning the candle from both ends has landed me with a terribly painful stomach ULCER. Now, I will admittedly be the first to tell you I work best under pressure and tend to take on more than I should. In some weird way, I feel more effective when my plate is full. Maybe I just need to balance out the food groups on said plate from now on.
Business has been outragously great over at Rue 39 Design and that has captured nearly all of my work attention. So, no pictures here...no exciting news...no grandiose things to report. (Check out Rue 39 Design to see what I've been working on!) Just laying off the blogging, facebook and most extracurricular activities. But I will be back soon with some great things, hopefully refreshed and refocused on those things that are important at the core (again think food groups): family, health and happiness.

Happy Birthday Mira!
Today was Mira's 11th birthday! While it seems impossible, I know it's true....the memories flood as I recall all the good times. Baths with her sister when they were little when they'd get out and RUN as fast as they could around the house, still soaking wet. The cute things she'd say ("Uppie" and "I want MEAT!") and do.
Mira's request was something Asian style...so this is what we did:

Cupcakes that look like sushi rolls and rice krispie treats that look like nigiri. Talk about a sugar rush! Cupcakes with icing, white sprinkles for rice and a medley of fruit snacks, sour straws and other gummie goodness, all wrapped up in a green apple fruit roll up! And as if that were not enough we had rice krispie treats topped with a swedish fish and also rolled up in a fruit roll up!

There were other things with some nutritional value available. We had PB&J's and chicken salad sandwiches that were also "sushi roll" style and the all-time favorite standby...PIZZA! Along with fortune cookies and Pirate Booty, just because they're good! Who says birthday parties have to be nutritionally balanced anyway?!?

We played games, including relay races (burlap sack included) and a scavenger hunt. Then it was time for a MOVIE and popcorn! The Hannah Montana Movie, of course!

Every child is so different and unique and Mira has proved that to me time and again. She's an independent thinker, intelligent, strong willed, creative, friendly, loyal and kind hearted. These qualities will enable her to achieve anything she puts her mind to. I"m so proud to be your momma, Mira! You are a beautiful girl and I love you more than you know!
